Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Open the access door on the right side of the cab platform.

Remove the oil filler cap slowly in order to relieve any tank pressure.

Open the access door behind the cab.

Remove the drain plug at the bottom of the filter housing. Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
Remove the filter housing and the filter element. Dispose of the used filter element properly.
Clean the drain plug, the filter housing, and the filter housing base with a clean, nonflammable solvent.
Inspect the filter housing seal for damage. Replace the seal if damage or wear is evident.
Insert a new filter element into the filter housing.
Install the filter housing onto the filter housing base. Install the drain plug on the filter housing.
Install the hydraulic tank filler cap.
Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Check the hydraulic system for leaks.
