Introduction
The purpose of this document is to instruct Cat dealers on how to complete the installation and activation of the PL631/ PLE631 Product Link system before a PL631/PLE631 Product Link system test is conducted on certain excavators manufactured at the Caterpillar Xuzhou Limited (CXL) facility.Problem

Typical Example
Currently at the CXL facility, China regulation prohibits activation of the PL631/PLE631 system. When these machines are shipped from the CXL facility, the PL631 system is disconnected and the matched connector (2) is installed. By doing so, both the PL631 (1) connector and product link harness connector (3) are protected.Solution
Perform the following steps once the machine arrives at a Cat dealership. For the location of the Product Link system, refer to "Product Link Locations".Note: The first two steps are for the 374 and 390 Excavators. If your machine is a 374 or 390 excavator, start at Step 1. If you have any other machine, start at Step 3.

The covers must be removed to access the Product Link module in the cab. Remove the screws in Illustration 2 to remove the cover.

Remove the screws and bolts in Illustration 3 to remove the next cover to access the product link module.
The matched connectors must be removed and product link harness connector (3) connected to the PL631 (1).

Typical Example
Use Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) to check the machine to ensure that the PL631 ECM installed correctly.
