(9) Service brake pedal (10) Reverse propulsion pedal (11) Forward propulsion pedalThe standard machine is equipped with a forward propulsion pedal (11), a reverse propulsion pedal (10), and a service brake pedal (9). The system must be armed and the parking brake must be released in order for these pedals to function. When the pedals are functional and the operator depresses one of the propulsion pedals, the machine moves. The farther the operator depresses the pedal, the faster the machine moves. When the operator depresses the service brake pedal (9), the service brakes are applied. The service brake pedal provides a modulated braking response. Each pedal is equipped with a sensor. The MD3 uses the signals from the forward propulsion sensor (2 ) and the reverse propulsion sensor ( 3) as input parameters for determining the desired machine speed and direction. The machine control system uses input from the service brake sensor (4) to engage the service brakes. If the MD3 determines that the propulsion pedals are depressed simultaneously, an error is displayed on the MD3screen, and machine propulsion is disabled.Note: The machine may optionally be equipped with a single propulsion pedal. If so, the pedal controls machine speed, and buttons on the right joystick control the direction of travel.
