Before assembly, clean the taper of the camshaft and the tapered bore of the camshaft drive gear with lint free cloth saturated with cleaning solvent to remove excess oil. Clean with alcohol wipe.
Refer to Disassembly and Assembly for the installation procedure for the left camshaft drive gear (1).
Refer to Disassembly and Assembly for the installation procedure for the right camshaft drive gear (8).
2 2 112-1554 Idler Gear As Bore in the 125-9751 Bushing for the idler gear assembly is 81.060 0.010 mm (3.1913 0.0004 inch).
Installation depth of the 125-9751 Bushing is 1.00 0.25 mm (0.039 0.010 inch).
3 2 8S-2331 Bolt Torque to 240 20 N m (177 15 lb ft).
4 4 8M-2530 Bolt Torque to 140 10 N m (103 7 lb ft).
5 1 4P-5437 Gear Shaft Diameter of the gear shaft is 74.990 0.010 mm (2.9524 0.0004 inch).
6 2 112-1552 Idler Shaft Diameter of the idler shaft is 81.000 0.010 mm (3.1890 0.0004 inch).
7 2 101-1368 Thrust Washer Thickness of new thrust washer is 1.90 0.10 mm (0.075 0.004 inch).
9 2 9X-8887 Bolt Use the following procedure in order to tighten the bolt for the camshaft drive gears:
1. Tighten the bolt for the camshaft drive gear to 360 40 N m (266 30 lb ft).
2. Mark a vertical line on the head of the bolt for the camshaft drive gear. Refer to Illustration 2.
3. Place a driver against the retaining plate of the camshaft drive gear. Strike the driver solidly with a hammer 3 to 4 times.
4. Again, tighten the bolt for the camshaft drive gear to 360 40 N m (266 30 lb ft).
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the mark on the bolt turns a minimum of 90 degrees. Refer to Illustration 2.
10 4 1B-4367 Bolt Torque to 240 20 N m (177 15 lb ft).
11 1 101-1365 Thrust Plate Thickness of the new thrust plate is 6.35 0.25 mm (0.250 0.010 inch).
12 1 107-2477 Idler Gear As Bore in the 4P-5438 Bushing for the cluster gear assembly is 75.060 0.010 mm (2.9551 0.0004 inch).
Installation depth of the 4P-5438 Bushing is 1.5 0.5 mm (0.06 0.02 inch).
