(1) Remove the apron assembly and bowl side lines [see the Service Manual). Before the scraper bowl is cut, make marks through centerlines of the existing pivot mounting. With an Arcair torch or similar tool, cut an 8.50"Ø (216Ø) hole around the existing pivot as shown. Remove the pivot. (2) On the outside of the scraper bowl (both sides), and with an Arcair torch or similar tool, remove area (A). Reference dimension lines (B) and (C) from the center of draft arm pivot (1) are parallel with, and vertical to, the bowl floor. (3) Install 1U3053 Beam (2) and tack weld at the dimension shown. On the inside, along the back of beam (2), make a .25" (6) fillet weld at location (D). Cut four backup strips (3) (two for each side) from mild steel material [.19" x 1.00" (5 x 25)] at the necessary length. Cut a notch at location (E) to make clearance for installation of the backup strips. Tack weld the backup strips into position as shown. (4) Install 3G7858 Pivot (4) in alignment with the previously drawn centerlines and make a .31" (8) fillet weld all around at locations (G) and (H) as shown. Cut two backup strips (5) (one for each side) from mild steel material [.19" x 1.00" (5 x 25)] at the necessary length. Install backup strip (5) as shown. (5) Install 1U3052 Plate (6) as shown and make a .24" (6) square groove weld all around at location (J) and a .62" (16) J-groove weld all around at location (K) as shown. (6) Install 9J8323 Trunnion (7) with twenty-two 1D4585 Bolts (8), 4K367 Nuts (9) and 5P8247 Washers. Tighten nuts (9) to a torque of 200 20 lb.ft. (270 25 N m).Modification Of Apron Arm
(1) With an Arcair torch or similar tool, cut each 3G7859 Bearing (1) at the dimensions shown. Grind area (A) smooth. Before removal of the existing bearings, make a record of the measurement across from center to center of each bearing and from center to center on each trunnion. This will make it easier for location of the new bearings on the arms at the correct width needed.(2) With an Arcair torch or similar tool, cut the apron arms at the dimension shown. Grind the area smooth. Tack weld a plate, approximately .75" (18) thick, to the arm as shown. This will give assistance for location of the bearing at the correct dimension while welding. (3) Put bearing (1) in position on the arm with angle (2) and C-clamps and tack weld as shown. Make a .62" (16) J-groove weld at location (B) and a .75" (18) bevel groove weld on the opposite side. (4) Again install
