Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Rotate speed dial (4) to the MINIMUM position.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the ON position.
Move propel mode switch (3) to the PAVE position.Note: The machine must be in PAVE mode in order to operate the screed lift system.

Move screed lift switch (5) to the FLOAT position. Move the screed lift switch on the right instrument panel to the FLOAT position.Note: The screed lift switch on both instrument panels must be in the FLOAT position in order for the screed to lower.
After the screed rests on the ground, move screed lift switch (5) to the HOLD position.

Move throttle control switch (6) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.

After the engine reaches low idle, move engine start switch (7) to the OFF position.

Lift platform lock (8). Rotate the operator platform outboard in order to access the connectors of the operator control unit.

Remove cover (9) from connector "J1" (11). Remove cover (10) from connector "J2" (12) .Note: The "J1" connector can be identified on either ECM by the rectangular protrusion in front of the connector.

Connector "J1" and Connector "J2" Pin Locations
Insert black spoon of Tool (B) into pin "45" (C234-BK wire) of connector "J1" (11). Connect black spoon to Tool (A) .
Insert red spoon from Tool (B) into pin "16" (370-BU wire) of connector "J2" (12). Connect red spoon to Tool (A) .
Set Tool (A) to read "duty cycle".
Move engine start switch (7) to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
Value on Tool (A) should be 10 5 percent. If the value is outside the specified range, go to Step 22.

Slowly and steadily depress brake pedal (13) against the stop. Observe reading on Tool (A). The value should steadily increase as the pedal is moved down. The value should not stop increasing until the pedal reaches the stop. When the pedal is against the stop, value on Tool (A) should be 78 5 percent.
Slowly and steadily release brake pedal (13). Observe reading on Tool (A). The value should steadily decrease as the pedal is moved up. The value should not stop decreasing until the pedal reaches the stop.
Move engine start switch (7) to the OFF position.
Remove the tooling. Replace the cover on connector "J1" (11). Replace the cover on connector "J2" (12). Use wire ties in order
