1. Cut all the tie-wraps holding wire group (1) to the extender height adjuster group (2).2. Disconnect two electrical connectors (3). 3. Remove roll pins (4) from the top plate.4. Attach straps and a suitable lifting device to extender height adjuster group (2) as shown.5. Remove five bolts (5) and washers. 6. Wedge two tapered wooden blocks (6) between extender height adjuster group (2) and tube assemblies (7).
The wooden wedges keep the tube assemblies in location during the removal procedure, the tubes can fall out of the extender height adjuster group (2).
7. Carefully lift the extender height adjuster group from the screed. The weight of the extender height adjuster group is 159 kg (350 lb). 8. If necessary, remove four bolts (8) and washers, plate (9) and the roll pins (10) from the height adjustment frame. The plate is located at assembly, then drilled with a 3/8 inch drill. Two roll pins are put together with their openings at 180° of each other and then driven into the hole to locate the adjusting plate and the main housing. When installing, apply Caterpillar 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound or equivalentto the front face of the adjuster group before the installation of the extender group. For installation of the extender height adjuster group, reverse the removal steps.
