Generator Connections and Settings - Test
If there is a diesel generator connected to the ESS, a functional test can be done to confirm connections and settings.
Confirm that ESS has been configured to operate with a generator. Refer to Systems Operation, Test and Adjust, UENR6989, "Communication Control Configuration" for the information to confirm configuration.
Confirm that the ESS is in "Ready" status.
Switch OFF the main AC breaker to the site.
Confirm that the ESS is supporting the site load.

DG on/off buttons
Test the generator start function by doing either of the following:
Click the "DG On" button in the FST
Send an OTA command to turn on the generatorNote: Only when the Comm is configured with DG enabled, the DG On/Off buttons will appear in the FST.
When the generator "Controller Start Delay Time" has been met, the generator will start and begin providing power to the rectifier.
Confirm that all modules begin charging. Confirm that generator is able to support the ESS charging load.
Switch on the main AC breaker to the site.
Confirm that the generator turns off.Note: The generator may have parameters set to allow a cool down period.
Confirm that the ESS begins charging.Minimum Charge Time
The ESS has a feature called "Minimum Charge Time". The feature recognizes if the generator has been run during the last outage. If so, the generator will automatically be started when the grid turns off.The default "Minimum Charge Time" is set to 4 hours. The time is adjustable. The default can be overridden by clicking the "DG Off" button on the FST or by sending an OTA command to turn off the generator.
