Start By:a. remove oil and water pump driveb. remove accessory drive (front)c. remove auxiliary water pumpd. remove fan drivee. remove front engine supportf. remove crankshaft front seal and wear sleeve 1. Remove the bolts and cover (1) from the front drive housing. Remove the O-ring seal from the cover. 2. Remove the bolts that hold shaft (2) in the front drive housing. Remove the shaft with tooling (A). Remove the O-ring seal from the shaft. 3. Remove the bolts that hold shaft (3) in the front drive housing. Use tooling (A) to remove the shaft, gear and washer from the front drive housing.4. Remove the O-ring seal from the shaft.5. Remove the bearing from the gear if necessary. 6. Remove two bolts (5) and fuel control lever (4) from the fuel control linkage. 7. Fasten a hoist and tool (B) to the front drive housing. Remove two bolts, and install two 5/8" - 11 NC guide bolts. Remove the remainder of the bolts and the front drive housing from the engine. The weight of the front drive housing is 209 kg (460 lb). The following steps are for installation of the front drive housing.8. Install two 5/8" - 11 NC guide bolts in the end of the cylinder block. Fasten a hoist to front drive housing with tooling (B). Put the gasket and front drive housing in position on the guide bolts. Install the bolts to hold the front drive housing in position. Remove the guide bolts, and install the remainder of the bolts. Tighten all of the bolts evenly to their standard torques. Cut the gasket even with the bottom of the cylinder block.9. Install fuel control lever (4) on the fuel control linkage. 10. Use tool group (C) to install the bearing in gear (6) if necessary. The bore in the bearing must be 90.00 0.06 mm (3.543 .002 in) after assembly.11. Install O-ring seal (8) on shaft (3). Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seal.12. Put washer (7) and gear (6) in position in the front drive housing, and install shaft (3). Install the bolts that hold the shaft in place.13. Put the O-ring seal in position on shaft (2). Put clean oil on the O-ring seal.14. Put shaft (2) in position in the front drive housing, and install the bolts that hold it.15. Put the O-ring seal in position on cover (1). Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seal.16.
