1. Remove the existing welds that hold the outer edge of the body guide plate to the frame rails. Do not cut out any of the weld that is used to hold the top and side components of the frame rails together. This weld is a continuous weld and is necessary for the strength of the frame.

Illustration 5. Dimensions for mounting bracket assembly.2. If there are cracks in the area of the body guide plates they must be cut out and welded again. If necessary, remove the body guide plate. Grind any new welds smooth.3. Put the new support plates in position as shown in Illustration 6 and weld them in place. Weld only in the areas shown in the illustration.4. Tack weld the new mounting bracket in position, as shown in Illustration 6. A straight piece of round bar stock can be used to check the alignment of the bores in the mounting brackets.5. The new mounting bracket can be welded as shown in the illustration. There must be no starts or stops of the weld in the area of the radii on the ends of the bracket.
