Machine Stopping
Be sure the parking brake is engaged and holding the machine before leaving the cab.Always block wheels securely before leaving the machine.
Do not use the parking brake to stop the machine. Damage to the parking brake could occur.
Stop the machine on level ground. 1. Release the accelerator (1) and depress the service brake pedal (2) to stop the machine.2. Push the transmission control to NEUTRAL, after the machine has stopped.3. Engage the parking brake.Engine Stopping
1. Run the engine at low idle for five minutes, to allow the engine to cool gradually. 2. Turn the engine start switch off to stop the engine.
Never turn the disconnect switch off while the engine is running. Serious damage to the electrical system may result.
3. Test the supplemental steering system, using the procedure in "Before Starting the Engine."4. After testing the supplemental steering circuit, turn the disconnect switch off and remove the key. 5. If the machine is parked on a slope, block the wheels.6. Drain the water from the service retarder, engine governor, and the parking/secondary brake air reservoirs. See topic "Air Reservoirs," In the Every 10 Service Hours or Daily section of this manual.Leaving the Machine
1. Use the steps and handholds, use both hands and face the machine, when dismounting. 2. Inspect the engine compartment for debris. Clean out any debris and paper to avoid a fire. 3. Remove all flammable debris from front bottom guard to reduce fire hazard. 4. If the machine is being parked for an extended period (overnight, etc.), turn off the disconnect switch and remove the key.5. Install all vandalism protection locks and covers.
