Schematic for the Lift Lever Position SensorThis diagnostic code is recorded when the implement electronic control module (ECM) determines that the voltage for the lift lever position sensor is too low or shorted low. The lift lever position sensor is a pulse width modulated sensor. The possible causes for this diagnostic code are listed:
The harness between the ECM and the sensor has a short to ground.
The sensor has failed.
The + battery circuit has an open.System Response:The machine response is listed:
The lift function will be disabled until the diagnostic code is cleared. The lift lever position sensor must be centered.Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code is corrected.Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code is active. Test Step 1. CHECK THE SENSOR.
Disconnect the sensor from the harness.Expected Result:The diagnostic code is still active. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code is still active. The sensor is not the cause of the diagnostic code. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NO - The diagnostic code is not active.Repair: The sensor has failed. Replace the sensor. Stop.Test Step 2. CHECK THE HARNESS.
The sensor remains disconnected.
Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the harness from the ECM.
At the harness connector for the ECM, measure the resistance between connector J2-24 (wire H710-PK) and ground.Expected Result:The resistance should be greater than 5000 Ohms. Results:
YES - The resistance is greater than 5000 Ohms. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NO - The resistance is less than 5000 Ohms. Repair: The harness has failed. There is a short in the harness between the frame ground and the signal circuit (wire H710-PK). Repair the harness or replace the harness. Stop.Test Step 3. CHECK THE + BATTERY CIRCUIT
Ensure that the key start switch is in the OFF position.
The connector for the sensor remains disconnected. The connector for the implement ECM remains disconnected.
Measure the resistance between the fuse and contact 1 at the connector for the sensor.Expected Result:The resistance measurement should be less than 5 ohms. Results:
YES - The resistance is less than 5 ohms. The harness is ok. Proceed to Test Step 4.
NO - The resistance is greater than 5 ohms. There is probably an open in the harness.Repair: Repair the harness or replace the harness. Stop.Test Step 4. CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUIT
Ensure that the key start switch is in the OFF position.
The connector for the sensor remains disconnected. The connector for the implement ECM remains disconnected.
Measure the resistance between contact J1-28 at the connector for the ECM and the contact 2 at the connector for the sensor.Expected Result:The resistance measurement should be less than 5 ohms. Results:
YES - The resistance is less than 5 ohms. The harness is ok.Repair: The harness circuit is correct. Ensure that the diagnostic code is still active. If the diagnostic code is active, it is unlikely that the ECM has failed. Exit this procedure and perform this troubleshooting procedure again. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the ECM. See
