When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
The 452-1402 Track Idler Cap Assembly has a 1T-0068 Spring Pin for proper orientation of the idler shaft on the track frame. The 1T-0068 Spring Pin has been assembled at the wrong height. It protrudes higher than allowed and interferes with the idler shaft. This will result in poor abutment of the idler cap to the idler block. Improper assembly will result in both bolt locations having a gap between the cap and the block. The bolted joint will fail.
ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect all 452-1402 Track Idler Caps in dealer parts stock based on the date code printed on the box. Refer to Image1 for a sample label and how to interpret the date code.
If a 452-1402 Track Idler Cap has a date code prior to Dec 23rd, 2015, rework the idler cap. Grind down the 1T-0068 Spring Pin to 5 mm (0.197 inch) height above the cap. Refer to Image2.
If a 452-1402 Track Idler Cap has a date code on or after Dec 23rd, 2015, mark the box to indicate that the part has been inspected according to this program and return the part to dealer parts stock.

SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all 452-1402 Track Idler Caps in dealer parts stock that are reworked. 1 hour of labor is allowed for every 10 caps that are reworked. For example, if 25 caps are reworked, 3 hours of labor are allowed.
PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
