Install Tooling (A) to hold ball stud (5) while locknut (6) is being loosened.

Use Tooling (B) to remove locknut (6). Remove locknut (6).

Use Tooling (C) to remove ball stud (5). Refer to M0080743 Tool Operating Manual , "Hammer Group" and , M0083627 , "Hydraulic Power Unit" Tool Operating Manual for the correct procedure to remove ball stud (5). Repeat the step for the remaining steering link ball studs.
Use Tooling (D) to support the steering link. The weight of the steering link is approximately 123 kg (271 lb).
Remove steering link (4).
Repeat Steps 1 through 7 to remove the opposite steering link.Installation Procedure
Install steering link (4) in the reverse order.
Apply Tooling (F) onto the taper of the ball stud (5) prior to installation.
Apply Tooling (F) onto the face of locknut (6) prior to installation.
Use Tooling (B) to tighten locknut (6) to a torque of 2550 100 N m (1881 74 lb ft)
Use Tooling (E) to install retaining ring (3).
Refer to Steering System, Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Front Wheel - Align" for the correct alignment procedure.Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the steering link.

Remove bolts (2), nuts (4), and clamp assembly (3). Remove socket assembly (5). Use Tooling (G) to remove ball stud (6) from socket assembly (5). Refer to Tool Operating Manual, M0069418 for the proper usage of Tooling (G). Remove ball stud (6) and bearing (7). Repeat for the other side.
Inspect ball studs (6). Refer to Special Instruction, REHS4420 for the inspection procedure of ball studs (6).Assembly Procedure
Failure to follow the recommended procedure or the specified tooling that is required for the procedure could result in damage to components.To avoid component damage, follow the recommended procedure using the recommended tools.

(A) 6.35 1.53 mm (0.250 0.060 inch)
Note: Before the installation of bearing (7), lower the temperature of the bearing to −45°C (−49.0°F).
Use Tooling (G) to install ball stud (6) into socket assembly (5). Refer to Tool Operating Manual, M0069418 for the proper usage of Tooling (G). Install bearing (7) and ball stud (6).Note: When the steering link is assembled, position clamp assembly (3) at least 6.35 1.53 mm (0.250 0.060 inch) from the end of the steering link. Align the opening of the clamp assembly with the steering link slot. Tighten clamps (9).
Apply Tooling (H) to the threads of socket assembly (5). Install socket assembly (5) to the steering link. Install clamp assembly (3), bolts (2), and nuts (4). Tighten nuts (4) to a torque of 583 27 N m (430 20 lb ft).
Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 for the other side.
