The dozer assembly raises and lowers unevenlyon some machines, which can lead to cylinder damage. You will not be chargedfor the service performed.Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediatelyto schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time requiredto complete this service. (2527301) is availablefor the dozer blade cylinder (2213540) to improve uneven movement of theblade.Rework both blade cylinders with the new valveseats/retainer as. (2527301)Valve seat/Retainer AS 2527301 includes oneseal O-ring 4J5351 (Item 23) and one backup ring 1183130 (Item 24). Two kits are necessary to completethis rework.
Before starting the rework clean the area aroundthe plugs.
Lower the blade onto ground with the machine athigh idle and using full implement flow. Avoid pretensioning of the cylindersand release hydraulic oil pressure.
Measure the cylinders in the middle of the smoothsurface at three different points, offset by 120 degrees (see Illustration2). If the diameter is more than 104mm, then replace each failed cylinderwith a 2527300 Cylinder GP.
If only one cylinder is out of specification(Group 2), then the second cylinder must be reworked. Record all measurementsin the attached sheet, and send the sheet to your TC.For each cylinder, which is out of specification,make a copy of the measurement sheet and attach it to the failed cylinderfor return to your warranty group.If the cylinders are 104mm or smaller (Group1), then continue with the rework procedure.
Remove plug (8), spring (26) and valve cone (7),store in a clean place.
Remove on the bottom side plug (11), spring (26)and cone bolt (10), store in a clean place.
Place a 6 mm mandrel (punch) from topside, throughvalve seat (6), to remove valve (5) together with valve seat (9).
Replace the removed valve seat (9) with the newprovided one.
Push new valve seat as. together with valve (5)back in the bore. Do not tilt or the surface may be damaged.
Assemble other parts in reverse order.
Tighten plugs to 150 Nm.
Stamp a "1" in the area of the grease nipple onthe cylinder foot, to show that the cylinder has been reworked.
Perform the same procedure on the second cylinder.
