Position the pinion and carrier (29) on support bracket (34). Install bolts (27) .

Use Tooling (L) in order to check the backlash of pinion (24). Measure the backlash at three teeth on pinion (24) that are separated by an equal distance. Average the three measurements. The desired backlash is 0.21 0.04 mm (0.008 0.002 inch). If an adjustment is necessary, remove the support bracket (34). Add shims to shim pack (35) or subtract shims from shim pack (35) .

Install bearing (22) in gear (21) .
Put gear (21) and discs (23) in position in carrier (15). Install shaft (19) .Note: The rubber in pin (20) must not be damaged. If the rubber in the pin is damaged, replace the pin.
Align the hole in shaft (19) with the hole in the carrier. Install pin (20). Install the pin until the end of the pin is even with the surface of the carrier.
Repeat Steps 34 through 36 for the two remaining planetary gears.
Install the retaining ring in carrier (15) .
Slide carrier (15) in ring gear (6). Use Tooling (B) in order to compress the retaining ring. Remove Tooling (B) .

Position gear (18) and plate (17) on the carrier. Install bolts (16) .

Install sun gear assembly (14) in carrier (15) .

Install bearing (12) in gear (11) .
Put gear (11) and discs (13) in position in carrier (7). Install shaft (8) .Note: The rubber in pin (10) must not be damaged. If the rubber in the pin is damaged, replace the pin.
Align the hole in shaft (8) with the hole in the carrier. Install pin (10). Install the pin until the end of the pin is even with the surface of the carrier.
Repeat Steps 42 through 44 for the three remaining planetary gears.
Install seal ring (9) on carrier (7) .

Install carrier (7) in ring gear (6). Install the thrust ring and retaining ring (5) .
Use 1U-8846 Sealant in order to coat the flange of slinger (4) that contacts carrier (7). Put slinger (4) in position on carrier (7). Install bolts (2) .

Use a suitable lifting device and Tooling (A) in order to position planetary carrier (3) in the housing. Remove Tooling (A) .

Install remaining bolts (2) .
Install bolts (1) and the washers that hold the planetary carrier in place. The bolts should be separated by an equal distance.End By:
Install the final drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive - Install" in the Service Manual for your machine.
Install the brake (left side). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Brake (Left Side) - Install" in this module.
