(1) Fan motor
(2) Fan solenoidFan motor (1) is located to the rear of the engine. The engine compartment cover provides access to this component.Fan motor (1) is a gear type hydraulic motor. The motor receives oil from the fan pump. The motor shaft turns the cooling fan.Fan solenoid (2) controls the oil flow through fan motor (1). The solenoid is on the left side of the motor.The engine ECM proportionally controls fan solenoid (2). The amount of current sent to the fan solenoid is inversely proportional to the speed of the fan. A low current signal to the solenoid produces a higher fan speed. A high current signal to the solenoid produces a lower fan speed.
