START BY:a. remove fuel injection lines
Do not let the tops of the fuel nozzles turn when the fuel lines are loosened. The nozzles will be damaged if the top of the nozzle turns in the body.
1. Remove bolt (1) and clamp (2) that holds nozzle (3) in place. 2. Install tooling (A) on nozzle (3) with the inside lip of the puller on the lower stepped diameter of the nozzle and the screw in alignment with the hole for bolt (1). Remove the nozzle.3. If the nozzle cannot be removed with tooling (A) or if it appears that the tooling or the nozzle will be damaged, tooling (B) must be used to remove the nozzle.
Typical Example4. Remove the protective cap from fuel injection nozzle (3), and install tooling (B) as shown.
Hold tool (B) so the centerline of the tool is in alignment with the centerline of fuel injection nozzle (3). This will prevent distortion of the nozzle which can cause it to bend or break off during removal.
6. Remove the fuel injection nozzle with tool (B).7. If tool (B) was used to remove the fuel injection nozzle, make a replacement of the nozzle. A replacement of carbon dam seal (5) and washer (compression seal) (4) must be made each time the fuel injection nozzle is removed.8. Remove carbon dam seal (5) with pliers and washer (4) from the fuel injection nozzle.Install Fuel Injection Nozzles
Before the fuel injection nozzles are installed, check for fuel leakage and the pressure at which the injection nozzle opens with tool (A). See Testing Fuel Injection Nozzles in Testing And Adjusting.
1. Install washer (compression seal) (1), and use tool (B) to install carbon dam seal (2) on the fuel injection nozzle. 2. Make sure the bore in the cylinder head assembly and the fuel inlet fittings are clean.3. Use tool (C) to clean the bore for the fuel injection nozzle. Use an open end wrench or tap driver to turn tool (C).4. Install fuel injection nozzle (4) in the cylinder head assembly. Push and turn to install the nozzle into its correct position.
Do not let the tops of the fuel nozzles turn when the fuel lines are tightened. The nozzles will be damaged if the top of the nozzle turns in the body.
5. Put the clamp in position, and install bolt (3) and the clamp that hold the fuel injection nozzle in place.END BY:a. install fuel injection lines
