Information:


Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the start switch off when changing fuel filters or water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately.
Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover over disconnected fuel system component.
Element filter
Turn the valves for the fuel lines (if equipped) to the OFF position before performing this maintenance. Place a tray under the fuel filter in order to catch any fuel that might spill. Clean up any spilled fuel immediately.

Close the valves for the fuel lines (if equipped).
Clean the outside of the fuel filter assembly. Open the fuel drain (2) and drain the fuel into a suitable container.

Remove the filter bowl (1) from the filter head (3). Press on the element (4). Rotate the element counterclockwise in order to release the element for the filter bowl and remove the element from the bowl. Discard the used element.
Remove the O ring (5) from the filter bowl and clean the filter bowl. Check that the threads of the filter bowl are not damaged.
Install a new O ring seal (5) to the filter bowl (1).
Locate a new filter element (4) into the filter bowl (1). Press on the element and rotate the element clockwise in order to lock the element into the filter bowl.
Install the filter bowl (1) into the top of the filter head (3).
Tighten the filter bowl by hand until the filter bowl contacts the filter head. Rotate the filter bowl through 90 degrees. Note: Do not use a tool to tighten the filter bowl.
Open the valves for the fuel lines (if equipped). Spin-on filter
Turn the valves for the fuel lines (if equipped) to the OFF position before performing this maintenance. Place a tray under the fuel filter in order to catch any fuel that might spill. Clean up any spilled fuel immediately.

Clean the outside of the fuel filter assembly. Open the fuel drain (3) and drain the fuel into a suitable container.
Use a suitable tool in order to remove the spin-on filter (2) from the filter head (1).
Ensure that the fuel drain (3) on the new spin-on filter is closed.

Lubricate the sealing ring (4) with clean fuel oil.
Install the spin-on filter (2) into the top of the filter head (1).
Tighten the spin-on filter by hand until the sealing ring contacts the filter head. Rotate the spin-on filter through 90 degrees.
Prime the fuel system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime".
