1     5W-1386     Nut     1    The Operation and Maintenance Manual states to check the wheel nut torque after the initial 50 Service Hours, and then every 250 Service Hours or Monthly. During this inspection, check the torque on all wheel nuts on each of the four wheels. The torque needs to be 450 + 50 − 0 N m (332 + 37 − 0 lb ft). If the wheel nuts are loose, retighten the wheel nuts using the star pattern. If damage has occurred, and an installation of new hardware is required, apply an initial torque of 100 N m (75 lb ft) using the star pattern, and then the final torque of 450 N m (332 lb ft) using the star pattern. Caterpillar also requires inspecting wheel nut torque at predelivery inspection (PDI), and retorque if necessary.
