These bearings have a larger outside diameter, as shown, than the original bearings used in the kingbolt housing on the above machines. The kingbolt housing bearing bores must be machined to a larger diameter before these new bearings can be installed. Use the hydraulic boring bar to machine the bearing bore to the larger size needed. Use this instruction along with Special Instruction Form SEHS8171 "USING HYDRAULIC BORING MACHINES" for the tools needed and correct procedure to machine the bearing bores. (1) Separate the tractor from the scraper at the kingbolt housing; see the Service Manual. Remove original bearings (1) and (2). Use a 6V7898 Dial Bore Gauge (or the former 1P3537 Dial Bore Gauge Group) to measure the bearing bore diameter in the kingbolt housing.(2) If the bore diameters are more than 123.88 mm (4.877") but less than 127.00 mm (5.000"), machine the bore to 127.05 mm Ø (5.002" Ø) to install the 3.17 mm (.12") oversize bearings. Measure the new bearing outside diameter before the bearing bore is machined. Machine the bore to get a .15 mm .05 mm (.006" .002") press fit on the bearing.(3) If the bore diameters are more than 127.00 mm (5.000") but less than 130.27 mm (5.127"), machine the bore to 130.23 mm Ø (5.127"Ø) to install the 6.25 mm (.25") oversize bearings; see the note in step 2, before the bearing bore is machined.(4) Lower the temperature of the bearings with dry ice (frozen CO2) before the bearings are installed in the kingbolt housing. Install the bearings and connect the tractor to the scraper; see the Service Manual.
