Always wear goggles when working on air conditioning systems. The system is under pressure at all times, engine running or not. Escaping Freon-12 (C C12 F2 Dichloro Difluoro Methane) can cause freezing of human flesh.Do not smoke while working on air conditioning systems. Inhaling Freon-12 through any smoking material, although not toxic or flammable, can generate phosgene gas and cause violent illness. Also, heat must never be applied to a charged system. See Air Conditioning And Heating Service Manual, Form No. SENR7454, for more information on removal and installation of lines and refrigerant from the system.
1. Purge the system. See Air Conditioning And Heating Service Manual, Form No. SENR7454. Put plugs in all refrigerant lines when they are disconnected.2. Open the engine access door located on the left side of the machine.3. Disconnect the Air Conditioning lines at the cab and at the radiator shroud to prevent excess loss of Freon. Put identification marks on the wires for correct installation.4. Disconnect the two wires (2) from the low pressure shutoff switch (3).5. Disconnect hose assemblies (1) and (4) from the receiver - dryer.6. Remove the two clamps and receiver - dryer (2) from the machine.7. Install the receiver - dryer in the reverse order of removal.8. Check the seals on hose assemblies (1) and (4), and replace if necessary.
