Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the front gear group. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Group (Front) - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: For information on reusability of the camshaft gear, refer to Guideline For Reusable Parts And Salvage Operations, SEBF8045, "Timing Gears for All Engines".
Place alignment marks on the crankshaft gear and on the crankshaft. The alignment marks will ensure that the camshaft gear is aligned properly during installation.

Heat crankshaft gear (1). Remove crankshaft gear (1) from crankshaft (2). Installation Procedure

Heat crankshaft gear (1) to a maximum temperature of 204 °C (400 °F) for no longer than 1 hour for installation.
Align the timing marks on the crankshaft and on crankshaft gear (1). Install crankshaft gear (1) on crankshaft (2). Note: Ensure that crankshaft gear (1) is flush against the shoulder of crankshaft. If the gear is not flush damage to the gear may occur.End By:
