(E) Plate assembly wear
Remove the Face Shovel bucket from the host machine.
Make sure that the Face Shovel bucket is clean. Remove all dirt and contamination.
Position the Face Shovel bucket on a flat and solid surface.
Secure the Face Shovel bucket against moving.
Remove the bowl assembly from the backwall assembly.
Remove cylinder group and lines from the backwall assembly.
Preheat the weld areas of the Face Shovel bucket assembly (D) and the plate assembly wear (E) to 175° to 210°C (347 ° to 410 °F).
Use an air carbon arc process to gouge/ remove the welds, to remove the existing wear plates (E) from the Face Shovel bucket.
Remove the existing wear plates (E) from the Face Shovel bucket.
Grind the surface on which the new wear plates (E) are to be welded. The surface should be clean and free of any debris.Installation Procedure
Position the wear plates (E) on lip assembly (A).Note: Distance between the wear plates 50 5 mm (2.0 0.2 inch).
Preheat the weld areas of the lip assembly (A), and wear plates (E) to:- Hardox wear plates 175° to 220 °C (347° to 428 °F).- Chrome Carbide top layer wear plates
Base material bucket ≤ 80 mm (3.1 inch) 125° to 220 °C (257° to 428 °F).
Base material bucket > 80 mm (3.1 inch) 175° to 220 °C (347° to 428 °F).
Tack weld wear plates (E) onto lip assembly (A).
Weld wear plates (E) onto lip assembly (A).Note: No welds allowed 20 mm (0.8 inch) from the end of the long side (both sides) to prevent start/ stop welds on the corners of the wear plates.
Turn over Face Shovel bucket for horizontally installation of the wear plates.
Position the wear plates on the inside of the Face Shovel bucket.Note: Distance between the wear plates 50 5 mm (2.0 0.2 inch)).
Preheat the weld areas of the Face Shovel Bucket, and wear plates (E) to:- Hardox wear plates 175° to 220°C (347° to 428°F).- Chrome Carbide top layer wear plates
Base material bucket ≤ 80 mm (3.1 inch) 125° to 220°C (257° to 428°F).
Base material bucket > 80 mm (3.1 inch) 175° to 220°C (347° to 428°F).
Tack weld wear plates (E) onto the inside of the Face Shovel bucket.
