Information:

Configuring the ECM
Use a service laptop with Cat ET software installed to configure the ECM network settings, and the date and time.The following items are required to configure the network settings of the ECM:
Cat ET version 2014A or later installed on the laptop computer
Communications Adapter (CAII) or laterNote: The network settings that will be configured on the ECM must be obtained from the network administrator for the mine unless a router is used to isolate the health interface module from the mine network.

Configuration menuNetwork Settings
Perform the following procedure to configure the ECM:
Connect the communication adapter connector to the "ET Port" connector of the main harness that is connected to the ECM.Note: Ensure the Data Link LED is receiving power from the ECM. The LED must be red. The LED may be red even if there is no power from the ECM, if a USB connection is used. Ensure the "CDL connection" is selected in "Utilities", "Preferences", "Advanced Preferences".
Connect the serial connector of the communications adapter cable to the COM port on the laptop computer, or use the USB connection to connect.
Start the Cat ET software on the laptop computer and allow Cat ET to establish a connection to the ECM.The "Caterpillar Electronic Technician" screen displays.
Select the "Service" menu and then select "Configuration". Refer to Illustration 1.

Configuration for Internet Protocol address
Select "Internet Protocol" in the list.The "Internet Protocol" item that is on the right column will expand.
Double click the "Internet Protocol (IPv4) Address" parameter or highlight the parameter. Click the "Change" button at the bottom left of the screen. Refer to Illustration 2.The dialog box for the parameter displays:

Enter a new value and then click "OK".The configuration screen displays.
Double click on the "Internet Protocol [IPv4] Network Mask" parameter to enter a new value for the subnet mask.
Double click on the "Network Default Gateway Internet Protocol [IPv4] Address" parameter to enter a new value for the gateway.
Exit the Cat ET application and power cycle the ECM for changes to take effect, or remain in the Cat ET application to continue configuring the date and time.Date and Time Configuration
The date and time must be configured on the ECM through the Cat ET software.

Service menu selectionPerform the following procedure to configure the date and time of the ECM:
Select the "Service" menu and then select "ECM Date/Time". Refer to Illustration 4.The current ECM date/time window displays.

Click the "Change" button that is located at the bottom left of the window.The "Date and Time" window displays.

Change the "Time Zone", "Date", and "Time" values, and then click the "OK" button.
Exit the Cat ET application.
Power cycle the ECM for changes to take effect.Uploading the Configuration File
