SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION FOR MAY 20, 1981, SERVICE LETTER ON 7155 TRANSMISSIONS IN AM GENERAL U.S. ARMY M915 SERIES TRUCKS, 3009, SLA082, 083, 084 U-45 Please add a note to your copy of the May 20, 1981 Service Letter referring to this Service Letter. The telephone numbers listed in the On-Highway Truck Engine Warranty Bulletin No. 10, Form SEBF5410-02, have been changed. These numbers are used for obtaining repair authorizations for 7155 Transmissions in M915 Series Trucks. Cross out the numbers listed at the end of the first paragraph in the right hand column and write in these numbers: 675-6962, -6963, or -6964. The area code did not change. Warranty Bulletin No. 10 will be updated and mailed to dealers at a later date. For those truck models where warranty coverage remains in effect, authorization is still required before diagnostic and/or repair work is initiated. MODEL M915 TRUCKS - As indicated in the May 20, 1981, Service Letter, dealer warranty service and Product Support Programs for transmissions and ratio selectors in Model M915 Trucks have expired. However, a limited warranty agreement is still in effect between the military and Caterpillar Tractor Co. for parts only. There is no dealer involvement in this program. MODEL M916 THRU M920 TRUCKS - Dealer warranty service and Product Support Programs SLA082, SLA083, and SLA084 are still in effect for Model M916 through M920 Trucks and will stay in effect until January 1, 1984. These Product Support Programs are applicable only when one of these trucks is brought to your facility for repair of a 7155 Transmission which has a malfunction covered by warranty, in the component covered by the Product Support Program. SLA082, SLA083, and SLA084 should only be performed once on any given transmission. After the ratio selector or transmission have been repaired, other components (such as poppet valves) should be repaired or replaced according to the guidelines in the General Information Warranty Bulletin No. 11, Form SEBF5111-04, and the Service Manual for the 7155 Transmission, Form SENR7002-04. When assembling the 9N4050 Control Group (SLA083) or the 9N1803 Ratio Selector (SLA082) lubricate the plates, gaskets, and poppet valves with SAE 30 engine oil. The oil film will help reduce the corrosive effects of any moisture which may enter the controls. In Step 1 of the SLA083 rework procedure (Page 3 of the Attachment to the May 20, 1981 Service Letter), a reference is made to the 0R5188 Manifold Group. This group is no longer serviced. It is now necessary to repair the 9N4033 Manifold Group with an 0R5161 Valve Assembly and other miscellaneous
