Information:
Personal injury can result from rotating and moving parts.Moving fan blades and moving parts will throw or cut any object or tool that falls or is pushed into them.Make sure no one is working on, underneath or close to an engine that is running. Make sure the area is free of personnel.
Injury to personnel can result if they are not in the operator's view. Allow only essential personnel near the machine, and make sure the personnel are in the operator's view when testing, to prevent injury. Make sure checks are done in an open area.
Note: Perform Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Tamper Bar - Check and Adjust" procedure prior to performing this procedure.Note: The angle of attack for the left extender and the angle of attack for the right extender must be set independently. The following procedure describes the steps to check and adjust the angle of attack of the left extender. The procedure to set the angle of attack of the right extender is similar.
Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.
Lift the screed and fully retract the screed extenders. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual of the tractor for this procedure.

Rotate tamper bar (3) above the bottom surface of the main plate and the extender plates.
Illustration 4 g02716524
Place straight edge (4) on right main screed plate (5) , along the outboard edge of the plate. Ensure that the straight edge extends beyond rear of extender plate (6) .
Illustration 5 g02716527
Measure distance (A) between straight edge (4) and the front of the extender screed plate. The distance should be 6 mm (0.24 inch).
Measure distance (B) between straight edge (4) and extender plate (6) at the rear of the extender plate. The distance should be 4 mm (0.16 inch).

Place straight edge (4) on right main screed plate (5) , along the inboard edge of the plate. Ensure that the straight edge extends beyond rear of extender plate (6) . Perform Step 7 and Step 8 with the straight edge in this position.
If the measurements recorded in Step 7 and in Step 8 in both positions along the extender are within specification, the extender angle of attack is correct. If either of the measurements recorded in Step 7 or in Step 8 is outside the specification, go to Step 11.

Illustration 8 g02716535
Use extender adjuster (7) and extender adjuster (8) in order to set the right extender to correct height for distance (A) . If distance (B) remains outside specification, remove chain and adjust rear extender adjuster independently to set extender angle of attack. Replace chain when the extender has been fully adjusted.Note: If the extender cannot be set to
