Procedure To Strengthen Ejector
Use AWS E7018 electrode or an equivalent for the welding in this procedure.
1. Thoroughly clean and remove paint from the area where the reinforcing plates are to be installed. Inspect for cracks. Weld repair any existing cracks before installing the reinforcing plates.2. Weld the new 8X6406 and 8X6407 Plates in position as shown in Illustration 1.3. In some cases, the welds that fasten the channels to the front plate have cracked. This can result in flexing of the plate. Locate the areas where the structural channels are welded to the rear side of the front plate of the ejector. Illustration 2 shows the approximate locations.

After the channels, identified in Illustration 2 have been located, cut an 8 mm (.31") wide slot through the front plate of the ejector in the approximate locations shown in the illustration. Cut only to a depth equal to the thickness of the front plate. These slots will expose the ends of the structural channels.5. Use a plug weld in the slots to fasten the channels to the front plate.6. Clean and paint the areas where the plates were installed and the areas where the channels were plug welded to the front plate.
