The 255-1142 Push-Button Switch for the parking brake may fail on all H, H2, K, and M Compact Wheel Loaders. Various causes have been found:
Internal failure
Incorrect adjustment from factory
Internal short circuit
External damageSolution
In the event of failure, replace with the same 255-1142 Push-Button Switch part number.Refer to parking brake test, to allow a machine to move to the safe location prior to work.Brake test mode is automatically enabled by the software. When the operator commands the machine to meet in a specific set of conditions in a specific order as mentioned below. This will allow the machine to move.Brake Test Mode
With the key Off, set the parking brake to engaged and FNR to Neutral.
Key on the machine and start the engine.
Fully depress the left pedal.
Fully depress the throttle pedal.
Using the FNR switch, perform a Forward, neutral, Forward quickly, or reverse, neutral, reverse.Note: This procedure will place the transmission into Forward or reverse gear with the machine held in place by both the parking brake and service brake. The brake test mode is now active. This mode is indicated by the parking brake indicator on the display blinking at 1 Hz.Ensure the parking brake is operational and passes the test outlined in the Operation and Maintenance Manual (OMM).If the parking brake test has been completed and is successful then the machine can be moved using this method until the switch is replaced.
