Information:
Overview
Note: For technical assistance, consult the network administrator of the mine.Internet Protocol Diagnostics (IP Diagnostics) enables issues with IP communications to be diagnosed. Also, "IP Diagnostics" enables the issues to be validated. The following methods are used in "IP Diagnostics":
Device pinging
Route verificationThe "IP Diagnostics" screen can be accessed by selecting "IP Diagnostics" from the "Main Menu" or by selecting "IP Diagnostics" from the top menu bar.

"IP Diagnostics" screen
The "IP Diagnostics" screen will display the following three diagnostic tools:"Ping Address:" - This function allows the user to validate that the health interface module device is able to reach another device that has a specific IP address. The other IP address must be on the same network."Traceroute Address:" - This function provides the details of network topology between a health interface module and a specific IP address."Show Routes" - This function will display a routing table. The routing table indicates the configuration of the health interface module to communicate with the network.Using "IP Diagnostics"
Perform the following procedure to diagnose issues with Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) communication:
Under "Show Routes", click "Routes". Refer to Illustration 1. A routing table will be displayed.
Verify the validity of the information that is displayed in the routing table. If the information is valid, then perform Step 3. Note: Refer to "Routing Table" section for more information on the displayed routing table.
In the "Ping Address:" text field, enter the IP address of a device that will communicate with the health interface module.
Then, click on "Ping". Verify the results of the ping. If the ping was successful, then perform Step 5.
Enter an IP address of a known device in the "Traceroute Address:" text field. Then, click on "Trace". The information that is displayed will help to identify issues with the network that prevent the health interface module from communicating with other devices.Routing Table
The "Show Routes" function displays a routing table. The routing table shows the configuration of the device to communicate with the network.

Example of Routing Table
Destination Gateway Genmask Metric Interface Comments
0.0.0.0 172.27.18.1 0.0.0.0 1 2 This address is the default route. If there is no 0.0.0.0 destination, then problems may occur in routing the packets unless the health interface module is on the same network segment as all devices that communicate with the health interface module.
10.9.8.0 3 255.255.255.0 10 3 This address is a routing entry for the special diagnostic IP address for the health interface module. Any packets that are intended for a 10.9.8.* address should be sent locally over the Ethernet cable.
10.9.8.7 0 255.255.255.255 1 3 This address is the routing entry for the IP address that is assigned to the health interface module. A gateway value of zero indicates that the health interface module is trying to send the packet to the same location as the original packet. Handle this process locally.
127.0.0.1 0 255.255.255.255 1 0 This address is the loopback entry for the health interface module. All enabled devices that have IP support the loopback address of 127.0.0.1. All communications
