Start By:a. remove transmission hydraulic control valves 1. Remove sleeves (1) and (3). Remove the O-ring seals from the sleeves.2. Remove elbow (2). 3. Remove the bolt, washer (4) and sleeves (5) from the valve. Remove the O-ring seals from the sleeves. 4. Remove four bolts (7). Disconnect lever assemblies (6) and (9) from the valve spools, and remove bracket assembly (8) and the lever assemblies as a unit. 5. Use tool (A), and remove snap ring (12) from each end of shaft (13).6. Remove washers (11) and lever assemblies (6) and (9) from the shaft.7. Use a hammer and punch, and drive pin (10) out of shaft (13) and bracket assembly (8). Remove the shaft from the bracket assembly. 8. If necessary, remove bearings (14) from the lever assemblies. 9. Remove 22 bolts (15) and support (19).10. Separate plate (16), body assembly (17), plate (18) and manifold (20). 11. Remove pin (22) that holds stop (21) in place in body assembly (17). Remove the stop. 12. Use a 3/8 "-16 NC bolt (24), and remove detent assemblies (23) from each side of the body assembly. Remove the O-ring seal from the detent assemblies. 13. Remove valve spool (25) from body assembly (17). 14. Remove pin (27) that holds stop (26) in place. Remove stop (26). 15. Use a 3/8 "-16 NC bolt, and remove detent assemblies (28) from each side of the body assembly. Remove the O-ring seal from the detent assemblies. 16. Remove valve spool (29) from body assembly (17). 17. Remove the bolts and cover (30) from the body assembly. Remove the O-ring seals from the cover. 18. Remove piston (34), spacers (33), springs (31) and (32), spool assembly (36) and slug (35) from body assembly (17). 19. Remove ring (40) from spool assembly (36) with tool (B).20. Remove retainer (38), spring (39) and ball (37) from the spool assembly. 21. Remove spring (42) and spool (41) from the body assembly. 22. Compress retainer (44), and remove retaining ring (43). Remove the retainer and the two springs from spool (41). 23. Remove dowel (45) that holds spool (48) in place.24. Remove spool (48), slug (47), and spring (46) (if equipped) from the body assembly. 25. Remove orifice (49) from the body assembly. Remove the O-ring seal from the orifice.26. Remove two dowels (50) and the stops from the body assembly.Assemble Transmission Hydraulic Control Valves
1. Make sure all of the parts of the transmission hydraulic control valves are clean. Put clean oil on all of the parts of the valves. Inspect all O-ring seals for damage, and make replacements if needed. 2. Put the two stops in position in the body assembly, and install two dowels (2).
Orifice (1) must be installed in the body assembly with the screen toward the outside.
3. Install the O-ring seal on orifice (1). Install the orifice in the body assembly. 4. Put spring (3), slug (4) and spool (5) in position in the body assembly, and install dowel (6) to hold
