(D) Reinforcement weld crack
Remove the weld by air arc gouging. Use a dye penetrant in order to verify that the entire crack has been removed. If the crack extends into the circular weld or an area that is out of reach use Special Instruction, REHS2131, "Procedure for Repairing Cracks in the Rear Track Roller Frame".
Remove the slag from the joint. Use a grinder to clean the joint in preparation for welding. Use a rotary file at the intersection of the welds.
Reweld the joint.
Repeat Steps 1 through Step 3 for the other rear track roller frame, if necessary.Repairing Belly Plate Plug Welds

(AA) 152.4 mm (6.0 inch)
Inspect plug welds (E) for cracks with a dye penetrant. Refer to Illustration 12.
If cracks are present, remove section (AA) from the center of the belly plate parallel to the length of the frame. Refer to Illustration 14 for the location of section (AA). Remove the belly plate section and plug welds by using air arc gouging.Note: Use caution when you cut the belly plate. Make sure that you do not damage the tube under the belly plate.
Grind the tube flush. Apply a dye penetrant in order to locate any cracks in the tube. If the tube is cracked, use air arc gouging in order to remove the crack. Reweld the gouged area. If the crack extends through the wall of the tube, you must gouge the root of the crack from the inside of the tube. You then need to weld the root of the crack from the inside of the tube in order to ensure quality fusion. Grind the tube and grind the casting weld flat in order to ensure that the replacement plate will rest flat. If any welds of the tube extend through the tube, ensure that the inner diameter of the tube is flush with the inner diameter of the original tube.
Fabricate an 856 × 139.7 mm (33.7 × 5.5 inch) replacement plate from an 18 mm (0.70 inch) thick plate. Do not put slots for plug welds in the replacement plate. Use ASTM A572 grade 42 or grade 50 or equivalent material. Prepare a weld area with a 30° bevel on all edges. Fabricate two 856 × 25.4 mm (33.7 × 1 inch) backup strips from material that is approximately 6 mm (0.236 inch) thick.Note: The replacement plate must be 856 mm (33.7 inch) long. The belly plate and the replacement plate must not be welded to the tube when the repair is complete.
Locate the backup strips and tack weld the backup strips to the remaining original belly plate. The strips should touch the casting on both ends. If the backup strips are too long, then the backup strips should be ground in order to fit.
Locate the replacement plate
