Information:
Procedure to Update the Cab Door Group
Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the equipment. To avoid accidental engine starting, disconnect the battery cable from the negative (−) battery terminal. Completely tape all metal surfaces of the disconnected battery cable end in order to prevent contact with other metal surfaces which could activate the engine electrical system.Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.
Use the following procedure to install the new linkage assembly on the right side cab door group:
Illustration 1 g02650398
Remove bellcrank assembly (1), bolts (2), washers (3), and rod assembly (4). Discard the bell crank assembly and rod assembly. Save the bolts and washers.

Detail of area A
Install linkage assembly (6) and handle to door with finger tight fasteners. Use two bolts (2) and two washers (3) that were saved in Step 1 to secure linkage assembly (6) and handle to door. Install socket head bolt (5) without washer on upper front bolt hole as shown in Illustration 3 (Do not use washer to provide clearance to clevis).Note: For machines with polycarbonate doors, reuse three 290-6180 Spacers between the door and handle.

(B) Dimension is 22 mm (0.87 inch) (C) Dimension is 20 mm (0.79 inch) (D) Dimension is 18 mm (0.71 inch)
Depending on the door tolerance the slot rework may be required to provide more clearance for correct operation. A dry-run fit-up could be done before grinding to avoid performing this portion of the rework. If unacceptable clearance is found throughout handle motion, then Door Skin should be modified as shown Illustration 4.
Illustration 5 g02650476
Position new linkage assembly (6) so that the linkage assembly moves freely when the handle assembly (9) is pulled. Ensure that the handle assembly can return to the normal state easily.
Tighten the bolts (2) to a torque of 5 1 N m (44 9 lb in) to secure linkage assembly and handle assembly.
With door open, close both latch jaws.
Lock handle assembly by using the CAT key.
Pull out the handle (as if opening the door) tight against the lock.
Adjust clevis (7) until the lower leg of the linkage assembly just contacts the latch with the handle assembly pulled out tight.
Turn clevis out half turn to provide clearance at the lower leg.Note: Make sure that the handle does NOT release the latch, when the handle assembly is locked.
Install pin and locking clip (8) with the clip closest to the socket cap screw to avoid interference as handle is pulled.
Unlock handle and test.
Install covers.
Repeat the above procedure for left side cab door group. To Adjust the Door Strikers
Follow the below steps in order to adjust the door striker:
Close the door and locate the striker in the latch so it is centered vertically in the latch jaws, engages the jaws smoothly, and does not guide the door upward or downward. Check for interference between striker head and jaws or latch case.
Check for both secondary and primary latch position.
