Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oils can cause burns. To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the implement hydraulic circuit (boom, stick, bucket, and swing), travel circuits, and the hydraulic oil tank at the filler cap before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch.
Release hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release" in this manual.

Typical example
Oil will drain from the pilot manifold valve when the solenoid valve is removed. Place a pan under the pilot manifold valve in order to contain the drain oil.
Disconnect electrical wiring harness (2) from solenoid valve (1) .
Illustration 2 g00372294
Typical example
Remove two bolts (3) that hold solenoid valve (1) to the pilot manifold. Remove solenoid valve (1) .
Illustration 3 g00372455
Remove four O-ring seals (4) from the solenoid valve.Installation Procedure

Install four O-ring seals (4) on the solenoid valve.
Illustration 5 g00372294
Typical example
Install two bolts (3) that hold the solenoid valve. Tighten the two bolts to a torque of 4.0 0.4 N m (35 4 lb in) .
Illustration 6 g00372292
Typical example
Connect electrical wiring harness (2) to solenoid valve (1) .Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities" for the correct filling procedure and the correct level for the hydraulic oil system.
Check the oil level in the hydraulic oil tank. Fill the hydraulic oil tank to the correct level.
