Introduction
The problem that is identified below has a known permanent solution. Use the solution that is identified below.Problem
The 320D/320D2/320D2L HEX may experience gear oil leakage from the final drives in certain applications, due to debris entering through Open protective labyrinth passage.Solution
Add a cover ring on the final drive in order to prevent aggregates from entering the open protective labyrinth passage. If gear oil is leaking from your machine, replace the 174-4874 Duo-Cone Seal Gp . Install the parts listed in Table 1 to prevent the duo cone seal failures.

Follow the general safety guidelines provided in the OMM before proceeding with the repair.
Gather all recommended tools before performing the repair.

(1) Ring cover
Remove the final drive from the machine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, UENR3252, "Final Drive - Remove".
Position the final drive on flat level ground with proper supports.

Wipe the circumference of the motor housing and ring cover to ensure the cleanliness.
Install the ring on the final drive and maintain the clearance of 1.5 0.5 mm (0.06 0.02 inch) between the ring cover and the sprocket housing for the entire circumference.

Tighten all the four set screws equally to position the ring cover and maintain the equal clearance. keep the orientation of 10 deg with respect to the center as displayed below.

(4) Tighten all set screws equally

(5) Maintain clearance of 1.5 0.5 mm (0.06 0.02 inch)
Torque the set screws to 240 40 N m (177 30 lb ft) followed by the X pattern tightening sequence.
Install the final drive on the machine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, UENR3252, "Final Drive - Install"

(6) Installed the final drive and torqued and connected the hoses

(6) Operate the machine and ensure that there is no rubbing
Operate the final drive to ensure the specified interference in the ring cover circumference.

(8) Weld area
Position the lock plate next to the ring cover block as shown in the Illustration. Weld the plate in the frame as with 8 mm (0.31 inch) fillet size as described below.
Operate the final drive to ensure the specified interference in between the ring cover and the sprocket housing in the entire circumference.
Apply the film coat of the recommended paint to prevent the corrosion in the weld joints.
Install the track assembly and adjust the track tension as recommended in the OMM.
