Remove the counterbalance valve. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, "Counterbalance Valve (Travel) - Remove and Install ".Note: Mark all of the components during the disassembly of the counterbalance valve. Make sure that the marks are used during the assembly of the counterbalance valve. Do not mix the parts.

Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.Spring force will be released when covers are removed.Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.
Remove bolts (1) that are diagonal to each other. Install tooling (A) in order to retain cover (2) when the remaining bolts (1) are removed. Slowly turn out Tooling (A) until spring pressure behind cover (2) has been fully released. Remove cover (2) .
Repeat Step 1 in order to remove the cover on the opposite side of the counterbalance valve.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Remove plungers (3), springs (4), and spring seats (6) from the valve body. Remove O-ring seals (7) and spool assembly (8) from the valve body.
Remove plugs (5) from the valve body. Remove the O-ring seals from plugs (5) .
Remove plug (9), spring (12), sleeve (11), and valve (13) from the valve body.
Remove O-ring seal (10) from plug (9) .
Remove plug (14) from the valve body. Remove O-ring seal (15) from plug (14) .

Note: Only the backup rings and the O-ring seals on each relief valve (16) are serviceable.
For installation purposes, note the location of the O-ring seals and the backup rings on each relief valve (16). Remove the O-ring seals and backup rings from each relief valve.
