Shims are available for replacement of shims (59) and (62).33. Use a suitable press in order to remove shaft (60) from the bearings. Press shaft (60) out of bearing (61). Remove shim (62) and press the shaft out of bearing (63). Bearing (63) is not shown. Remove cup (63) from the bearing. The following steps are for assembly of the axle propel motor. Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, thoroughly clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision component. Perform assembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times. Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Raise the temperature of the bearing before the assembly procedure. 34. A replacement shims are available for replacement of shim (62).36. Place shaft (60) and the bearing assembly on a surface plate. Install shim (62) and measure Distance (X). Dimension (X) must be 38 mm (1.482 in). 37. Install retaining ring (59). Use a thickness feeler gauge in order to measure the gap under the snap ring. Take the dimension from the thickness feeler gauge and use the shim with the correct thickness from the available replacement shims. Remove the snap ring and install shim (49). Inspect the housing for nicks and burrs on the mounting flange. Remove minor nicks and burrs. Check the housing for damage or stripped threads.
