1. Loosen and move clamp (3).2. Move tube assembly (2) away from exhaust manifold (1). 3. Remove nuts (5) and the washers.4. Remove spacers (4).5. Remove exhaust manifold (1) and the exhaust manifold gaskets. 6. If necessary, remove the exhaust manifold mounting studs from the cylinder head. If necessary, make a separation of the exhaust manifold. The following steps are for the installation of the exhaust manifold.7. If the exhaust manifold mounting studs were removed from the cylinder head, apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound to the exhaust manifold mounting studs. Install the exhaust manifold mounting studs, and tighten them to a torque of 38 5 N m (27 4 lb ft).8. If the exhaust manifold was separated, apply a thin coat of 2P-2333 Manifold Sealer to the male ends of the exhaust manifold. Coat the female ends of the exhaust manifold with clean engine oil. Assemble the exhaust manifold and remove the excess sealer from the assembled joints.9. Put 5P-3935 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of the exhaust manifold mounting studs.10. Install new exhaust manifold gaskets. Use assembly spacers at positions 5 and 7 to align the exhaust manifolds on the 3408 Engine. Remove assembly spacers before final assembly.
Tightening Sequence For 3408 Exhaust Manifolds Use assembly spacers at positions 11, 7 and 9 to align the exhaust manifolds on the 3412 Engine. Remove assembly spacers before final assembly.
Tightening Sequence For 3412 Exhaust Manifolds11. Install exhaust manifold (1) with spacers (4), nuts (5) and the washers. Tighten the nuts in number sequence shown to a torque of 38 5 N m (27 4 lb ft). 12. Position tube assembly (2) and clamp (3). Clamp (3) must be positioned as shown.
