Information:

PA58VS
A PA58VS winch is not adjustable.57 (without Free Spool)
The winch has an adjustable sequence valve during reel-out function. The winch permits the selection of either no-inch or inching operation. The description of Inching is the controlled movement of cable during a reel-out function. The inching setting is generally used when the machine and the winch are used for construction and pipeline work. The inching setting gives the operator the control that is necessary to put an object in an exact position. If precise control is not necessary, then use the no-inch setting. When you are using the inching setting, move the winch control lever to the position of reel-out. Move the lever into the channel in order to start the drum rotation. Use the engine speed to control the inching rate. Always use a slower engine speed for better control when you are inching. The sequence valve is set on the no-inch setting at the factory.Inch or No-inch Adjustment:
Use valve in Inching position only when needed for inching out. Otherwise, possible winch damage could result.
Illustration 1 g00441220There are three internal adjustments to the winch when you are changing between inch or no-inch modes.
Remove the winch valve access cover (1) that is located on the right side of the winch.
Illustration 2 g00441545
Remove the nut from the end of the valve (2). The internal valve stem is reversible. When the nut is placed over the stem, either the word inch or no-inch is visible. The wording indicates the operating mode of the valve. The stamped word must be visible for either operating mode.
The wording on cover (3) indicates the mode of operation. Remove two bolts (4) and remove cover (3). The desired mode of the valve is obtained by turning over the cover (3). When you are in the inch mode the wording "inch, this side out" must be visible. When you are in the no-inch mode the wording "no-inch, this side out" must be visible.
The plug that is stamped with a "P" and the orifice cartridge that is stamped with a "C" must be in the proper location in the valve block. When you are in the inch mode the plug (5) that is stamped with the "P" must be in the upper position, and the cartridge (6) that is stamped with the "C" must be in the lower position. For the no-inch mode, the plug (5) must be in the lower position, and cartridge (6) must be in the upper position. The instruction plate on the valve also indicates the proper location of the plug and cartridge.
After the proper adjustments have been made, install access cover (1).
