Axle Stabilizer System
Axle Stability Valve
The axle stability switch on the right armrest activates axle stability valve (2), which locks or unlocks the axle stabilizers. This valve has three ports (P2, A and R2) and two switching positions. Moving the toggle switch to the right will lock the axle stabilizers. Moving it to the left will unlock the stabilizers. A detent retains the toggle switch in the selected position.Unlocked Position

(9) Spring. When the toggle switch is moved to the left and engaged in the detent, valve (2) is opened (flow position). Air entering the valve at port P2 can flow through sleeve (8) and seal (7) around tappet (5) to port A. The force of spring (4) presses thrust piece (3) against the toggle and engages the detent. The tappet is pushed upward and held in this position by spring (6) and the pressure of air from port P2. This opens the opening in seal (7) allowing air to flow to port A. The sleeve is pushed against the seal by spring (9). Port R2 (vent opening) is closed. The air from port A controls the air supply to the axle stabilizer control valve, which unlocks the check valves in the axle support cylinder to allow axle swing movement.Locked Position

(1) Toggle switch. (2) Valve for parking/service brake and axle stability. (3) Thrust piece. (4) Spring. (5) Tappet. (6) Spring. (7) Seal. (8) Sleeve. (9) Spring.Moving the toggle switch on the right armrest to the right stops the flow of air at port P2. When the toggle is operated, thrust piece (3) is first pushed down against the force of spring (4) and then against tappet (5) until the toggle engages in the detent. The tappet now presses against spring (6) and blocks the flow of air through the seal. It also pushes the seal with the sleeve from its seat against the force of spring (9). The air at port (A) is now vented past the seal to port R2. Air at port P2 is blocked by the tappet in seal (9). The axle stabilizer control valve can be vented through the axle stability valve. As a result, the air supply lines to axle support cylinders become pressureless. The cylinder check valves can lock these cylinders in their respective position. The axle stabilizer control valve can also be locked (vented) by moving the toggle switch on the left armrest to the left.Axle Stabilizer Control Valve
The axle stabilizer control valve is used to lock the steering axle by means of the two support cylinders. An air cylinder operates the hydraulic part of this valve. The valve is connected to the return line to the hydraulic tank. Air from the air tanks flows through the axle stability valves to the axle stabilizer control valve. When one of these armrest valves in the cabin is moved to the
