Separation Procedure
Start By:
Remove the engine and transmission.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be cleaned thoroughly. This help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Use a suitable lifting device to place the engine and transmission onto a suitable stand. The combined weight of the engine and transmission is approximately 675 kg (1488 lb). Use suitable cribbing under the transmission for additional support.
Attach a suitable lifting device to the transmission. The weight of the transmission (2) is approximately 210 kg (463 lb).
Remove bolts (4) and disconnect tube assembly (3) . Remove bolts (1) and transmission (2) from the engine.

Remove bolts (5) and torque converter (6) .

Remove bolts (7) . Remove plate (8) and plate (9) from torque converter (6) .
