Make sure the bearing caps do not fall off of the spiders when the drive shaft is removed. The needle bearings in the caps can be lost.1. Remove bolts (5) and straps (4) from both ends of the center drive shaft.2. Loosen retainer (2) and slide ends (yokes) (1) and (3) of the drive shaft toward each other. Remove the center drive shaft from the machine. 3. Remove retainer (2) from end (yoke) (3), and slide end (yoke) (3) from end (yoke) (1).4. Remove retainer (2) from end (yoke) (1).5. Remove spider and bearing assemblies (6) and (7) from the ends (yokes) of the drive shaft. See Universal Joints.Install Drive Shaft (Center)
1. Install spider and bearing assemblies (3) and (4) on the ends (yokes) of the drive shaft. See Universal Joints.2. Install retainer (2) on end (yoke) (1).
Make sure yoke (1) is in alignment with yoke (5) on the opposite end of the drive shaft. Damage to the machine can occur if the yokes are not in alignment.
3. Install end (yoke) (5) on end (yoke) (1) so that the arrows on the yokes are in alignment.4. Install retainer (2) loosely on end (yoke) (5) of the drive shaft. 5. Put drive shaft (6) in position on the machine as shown.6. Install straps (7) and bolts (8) on both ends of the drive shaft. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 60 7 N m (44 5 lb.ft.).7. Tighten retainer (2) on the end (yoke) of the drive shaft only hand tight.END BY:a. separation of steering frame lock link
