( 23Z ) High Speed Generator Set EnginesDescription of Change: A new exhaust manifold system is used on the above engines which are rated at 50 Hz with model TV8106 Turbochargers, or 60 Hz with model TV9214 Turbochargers. The new manifold system connects the two exhaust manifolds together to equalize pressure pulsations and prevents turbocharger surge which could occur with the former exhaust manifold system. Also, for these same applications, the tubes which connected the inlet manifold to the exhaust elbow have been eliminated. A new bracket is used to attach the storage clip for the engine front lifting eye.Adaptable To: The new exhaust manifold system is in effect on 3508 High Speed Generator Set Engines 23Z1877-up which are rated at 50 Hz with model TV8106 Turbochargers, or 60 Hz with model TV9214 Turbochargers. The former manifold system is still used on lower rated 3508 (23Z) High Speed Generator Set Engines with other turbochargers. The new and former components of the exhaust manifold system are listed in the chart. The new component, when used together are adaptable to 3508 High Speed Generator Set Engines 23Z1-23Z1876 which are rated at 50 Hz with model TV8106 Turbochargers, or 60 Hz with model TV9214 Turbochargers. Remove the former components and install the new components as shown in Illustrations 1 through 3.
