A hook-type coupler end is available as an option that is installed at the factory. The hook-type coupler ends are commonly called Walterscheid Ends. The hook-type coupler ends provide the advantage of coupling the implement close to the machine in order to provide better balance with less counterweight. Also, the hook-type coupler ends provide a simplified procedure for attaching implements.Use the following procedure in order to attach implements to the hook-type coupler ends.
Attach the ball bushings that come with the hitch to the implement hitch pins. Additional 126-9273 Ball Bushing and 126-9274 Ball Bushing are available from any Caterpillar dealer.
Position the sway blocks in the FRONT position in order to spread apart the draft arm hitch points to the correct distance.
Back up to the implement until the hook-type coupler ends that are on the draft arms are directly below the ball bushings that are on the implement hitch pins.
Raise the hitch slowly in order to couple the hook-type coupler ends ends with the ball bushings. Verify that the latches that are spring loaded are fully engaged.
Engage the parking brake and shut off the engine.
Adjust the center link until the spherical end that is located on top of the implement can be attached. Readjust the center link to an initial setting of 724 mm (28.5 inch). Verify that the latch that is spring loaded is fully engaged.
Perform all checks that are listed in Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Attaching and Detaching Three-Point Implements" .
