Procedure To Improve The Anti-Pitch Joint Retention
1. Obtain a new 8E4709 Pin Assembly. If a new pin assembly is not available, the former or existing 6Y1967 Pin Assembly (not serviced) may be used. However, if the 6Y1967 Pin Assembly is used, cut off the end plate of the assembly and follow Steps 2. through 6. If a new 8E4709 Pin Assembly is used, proceed to Step 7.2. Fabricate a new end plate from high strength structural steel as shown in Illustration 1.

Illustration 2.5. Position and weld the lugs to the bottom of the plate assembly as shown in Illustration 3.6. Drill two holes 13.80 +0.20 -0.10 mm (.547 +.008 - .004 in.). Tap 5/8 in. - 11 threads.
Illustration 3. Weld three sides, two places.7. Install the new 8E4709 Pin Assembly (2) [or the fabricated pin assembly] into plate assembly (1) and secure it in place with one 8E4711 Plate (5), the two fabricated lugs (3), and two 7X0344 Bolts (4). See Illustration 4.
Illustration 4. Improved anti-pitch bracket assembly. To eliminate or reduce the "squeaking" noise of the pin/bushing, the 9W7476 Plate Assembly must be removed and relocated. On D3C and D3C LGP Tractors, the bottom edge of the plate assembly should be located 155 mm (6.1 in) above the top of the C-Frame. On D4C Tractors, the bottom edge of the plate assembly should be located 174 mm (6.8 in) above the top of the C-Frame. For the typical location of the 9W7476 Plate Assembly, see Illustration 5.
