Information:

At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly in order to relieve pressure.
Lubricants
Approved hydraulic oil must be used to obtain the extended 4000 hour hydraulic oil change interval described in the Note above. Refer to the list that follows for approved oils.Caterpillar Hydraulic Oils

Commercial oils with a minimum zinc content of 900 ppm that meet Cat ECF-1, ECF-2, ECF-3, or the Cat TO-4 specification can be used. Also, acceptable commercial oils must have an SAE viscosity grade of one of the following SAE specs.
SAE10W
SAE0W20
SAE0W30Note: Industrial hydraulic oils are not recommended for the hydraulic systems of Caterpillar machines. Industrial hydraulic oils are more likely to allow corrosion and industrial hydraulic oils are more likely to allow excessive wear.Clean Screens
The implement return screen and the case drain return screen are located in the hydraulic system oil tank. These two screens do not require scheduled routine maintenance. However, in the case of a catastrophic failure of components in the hydraulic system, perform the following procedures:
Disassemble the hydraulic system oil tank and clean the tank thoroughly
Clean or replace the implement return screen
Clean or replace the case drain return screenChange the Hydraulic Oil
Operate the machine to warm the oil.Park the machine on level ground. Lower the bulldozer blade to the ground and apply slight downward pressure. Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.

(1) Filler cap
(2) Oil level sight gauge
(3) Drain valve
Remove hydraulic tank filler cap (1) slowly to relieve any pressure.
Wash the filler strainer and the filler cap in a clean nonflammable solvent. Install the filler strainer.
Remove the plug from drain valve (3). The drain valve is located above the right-hand rear track idler.
Attach a 25.4 mm (1 inch) hose to a 126-7914 Oil Drain Coupling. Make sure that the hose is long enough to bypass the track assembly and drain into a suitable container. A 25.4 mm (1 inch) pipe nipple with a length of 200 mm (8 inch) can be used instead of 126-7914 Oil Drain Coupling.
Install Oil Drain Coupling, or the pipe nipple, into the opening of the drain valve.
Rotate Oil Drain Coupling, or the pipe nipple, clockwise to open the internal drain valve. Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
Remove Oil Drain Coupling, or the pipe nipple. The valve for the hydraulic tank will close.
Clean the drain plug and install the drain plug. Tighten the drain plug to a torque of 68 7 N m (50 5 lb ft).
See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Filter (Pilot) - Replace". Change the hydraulic system oil filter.
Install the filler strainer.
