(7) Hydraulic tank for the steering and brake systems The gear pump (6) draws hydraulic oil from the hydraulic tank (7).The hydraulic oil then flows to the oil cooler for the steering and brake systems (4). If the hydraulic oil is cold the check valve for the oil cooler bypass allows the hydraulic oil to bypass the oil cooler. The hydraulic oil then flows to the oil filter for the steering and brake systems.The oil then passes through the oil filter (1). The filter removes any debris that is in the hydraulic oil preventing contamination of the oil that is in hydraulic tank (7).When the flow of oil through the filter is restricted and an adequate oil flow cannot be maintained a bypass valve in the filter allows the hydraulic oil to bypass the oil filter. This bypass also occurs in cold start-up conditions when the hydraulic oil is cold. The pressure switch (3) actuates when the flow of oil through the filter is restricted. The pressure switch (3) is monitored by the VIMS. The VIMS will display a warning when the flow of oil through the filter is restricted.The fluid sample valve (2) is available for scheduled oil sampling analysis (S O S analysis).Note: For additional information on the VIMS, refer to Service Manual, RENR6318, "Vital Information Management System (VIMS)".
