(27) Carrier (No. 1 planetary). (28) Gear (No. 1 ring). (29) Passage. (30) Slinger. (31) Passage. (32) Piston (No. 3 Clutch balance). (33) Piston (No. 2 clutch balance). (34) Piston (No. 1 Clutch balance). (35) Passage. (36) Passage.Lubricating oil for the transmission comes from the transmission oil tank through the suction screen, the transmission pump and then the filter. Filtered oil combines with bypass oil from the relief valve in the transmission selector group. The combined oil goes through a cooler to the transfer case. The oil splits. Some stays in the transfer case and some goes to the transmission. Pressure is controlled by a relief valve in the transmission case.Oil that stays in the transfer case lubricates the transfer gears and bearings. Part of this oil goes through passage (35) to the back of No. 1 clutch balance piston (34). This oil then goes through passage (36) and through passages in ring gear (28) to lubricate No. 1 clutch (5).The oil that goes to the transmission goes through passage (29) to center shaft (7). This oil splits. Some goes forward and some goes toward the output end. Part of the oil that goes forward goes to the back of No. 2 clutch balance piston (33). Some of this oil lubricates ring gear (26) and then No. 2 clutch pack. Some of the oil directed forward goes through passages in No. 1 planetary carrier (27) to lubricate No. 1 planetary gears (4). The remainder of the oil directed forward feeds to the center of shaft (7).Part of the oil directed toward the output end goes to the back of the No. 3 clutch balance piston (32). The remainder lubricates No. 4 sun gear (10), No. 4 ring gear (11), No. 4 planetary gears (23), No. 4 clutch (12) No. 5 ring gear (14), No. 5 planetary gears (22) and No. 5 clutch (15). The remainder of the oil from passage (29) goes through passage (31). This oil helps lubricate No. 4 clutch (12), No. 5 clutch (15), and No. 6 clutch (16). This oil then flows into slinger (30) where it is directed to passages in No. 6 planetary carrier (18). This oil lubricates No. 6 planetary gears (21), No. 6 ring gear (20) and No. 6 clutch (16).Balance Pistons
The oil that goes to balance piston (34) for No. 1 clutch; balance piston (33) for No. 2 clutch; and balance piston (32) for No. 3 clutch is used to balance the force of the oil (centrifugal force) caused by the rotation of
