35. Install the shims. Use a hammer and punch to install pin assembly (9). Install light bracket (8), the washers and pin assembly retaining bolt (7). Tighten pin assembly retaining bolt (7) to a torque of 325 40 N m (240 30 lb ft). 36. Install Tool (C) on top of radiator enclosure (11). Fasten a lifting sling and a hoist to Tool (C). Put radiator enclosure (11) in position on the machine. Open door (10) of radiator enclosure (11). 37. Install two bolts (19), the washers and nuts at the left side of radiator enclosure (11). 38. Install bolt (18), the washer and nut beneath the inside right corner of radiator enclosure (11). 39. Lower the engine enclosure door.40. Put horn assembly in position inside radiator enclosure (11). Install four mounting bolts (16) and the washers. 41. Install sound suppression liner (14) by lifting frame (15) from the upper structure. 42. Install two bolts (12) and the washers in plate assembly (13) of sound suppression liner (14). 43. Lower door (10) of radiator enclosure (11).44. Connect lubrication hose assembly (3) beneath the head end of the fore boom cylinder.45. Connect both ends of hose assembly (2) to their original location.46. Connect hose assembly (1) to the fore boom cylinder tube assembly.47. Fill the hydraulic oil tank. Lubricate the fore boom cylinder mounting pin assemblies. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure.48. Start the machine, and run it at low idle speed. Raise the bucket from the ground. Move the control lever for the fore boom cylinder so the cylinder rod extends to its halfway position; then retract the cylinder rod. The cylinder should be cycled this way approximately ten times to remove the air from the hydraulic system. Recheck the oil level in the hydraulic oil tank.Disassemble & Assemble Fore Boom Cylinder
Start By:a. remove fore boom cylinder Fluid Spillage ContainmentCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Fore Boom Cylinder1. Put the fore boom cylinder on Tooling (A). The weight of the fore boom cylinder is 166 kg (365 lb).2. Remove eight socket head bolts (3) that hold head (4) to cylinder assembly (10).3. Using Tooling (A), slide rod and bearing assembly (2), with head (4), out of cylinder assembly (10).4. Remove ring (7), seal assembly (8) and ring (9) from piston (6).5. Remove socket head setscrew (1) from the end of the rod and bearing assembly and piston. Using Tooling (B), remove piston (6) from the rod and bearing assembly.6. Remove O-ring seal (5) from the inside of piston (6).7. Slide cylinder assembly (10) back onto the rod and
