Removal Procedure
Disconnect batteries before performance of any service work.

Disconnect the wires which are connected to solenoid (2) and electric starting motor (1) .

Use a suitable lifting device and fasten a strap to electric starting motor (1), as shown.
Remove three mounting bolts (3) and remove the electric starting motor. The weight of the electric starting motor is 25 kg (55 lb).Installation Procedure

Note: Check the condition of the gasket which is used between the starter motor and the flywheel housing. Replace the gasket if the gasket is worn or damaged.
Fasten a strap to electric starting motor (1). Position the electric starting motor with the gasket to the flywheel housing. Install three bolts (3) that hold the electric starting motor.

Remove the strap. Connect the wires to the electric starting motor and solenoid (2). Tighten the large terminal nuts to a torque of 30 3 N m (22 2 lb ft). Tighten the smaller terminal nuts to a torque of 2.6 0.8 N m (23 7 lb in).
